Peads and Barnetts or otherwise known as Pork and Flowers at Santa Monica Farmers’ Market or Hollywood Farmers’ Market have one of the best selection of beef at the moment.
It has been about a year that they started to sell beef in limited amount and after trying it for myself I knew I had to bring it to you all as well.
Peads and Barnetts buy retired dairy cows (Holstein, Angus) and pasture raise them for another at least 3 years. When they buy these retired dairy cows they are around 5 years old. The older the cow the better the meat quality. They say that meat is best when a cow is 8-9 years old and that is why this meat quality (and taste!) is truly exceptional.
